This 9th video is from the “Kanosuke Distillery” located in the east of Kagoshima Prefecture, which is one of the “Three Great Sand Dunes of Japan” and is selected as one of the “100 Best Shores of Japan”, overlooking the Fukiage Beach along the East China Sea. We would like to introduce “Single Malt Kanosuke 2022 Limited Edition”.
1. For beginners to get started.
The concept of this project was to introduce whisky to people who have been interested in “BAR” and “Japanese whisky” but have been reluctant to approach it.
We hope that it will be an opportunity to go to a bar and learn more about Japanese whisky, not only for connoisseurs who are familiar with Japanese whisky, but also for beginners who want to learn about whisky and Japanese whisky from scratch, and that it will attract as many people as possible. We hope that this will be an opportunity for as many people as possible to learn more about Japanese whiskey and to visit BARs.

This 9th volume of this series will introduce “Single Malt Kanosuke 2022 Limited Edition” from the Kanosuke Distillery, located in the east of Kagoshima Prefecture, which is one of the “Three Great Sand Dunes of Japan” and selected as one of the “100 Best Shores of Japan”, overlooking Fukiage Beach along the East China Sea.
Established in 1883, Kagoshima Prefecture’s Komasa Jozo is a sake brewer whose main products include the authentic shochu “Kozuru” and the aged shochu ” Mellowed Kozuru” developed by the distillery’s predecessor, Kanosuke Komasa, from which the distillery takes its name. In 2017, the company obtained a whisky production license and began operations at the “Komasa Jozo Kanosuke Distillery” as a new stage of challenge, making full use of the authentic shochu production technology it has cultivated to date.
Ltd. has transferred its whisky production business at the Kanosuke Distillery to “KOMASA KANOSUKE Distillery Co”.
The Kanosuke Distillery stands on a site of approximately 9,000 m2 along Fukiage Beach on the west coast of Kagoshima Prefecture.
The U-shaped, two-story main building houses not only the distilling facilities but also a bar with a great view and a store selling original goods.
The main feature of the distillery is that it is equipped with three pot stills of different shapes (large, medium, and small). Various combinations of these stills are used to produce a variety of different types of sake. The Hioki Shochu Brewery also produces its own grain whisky from 100% barley, and stores high-quality grain whisky.
We are very much looking forward to seeing how the distillery will develop in the future, with the variety of raw materials produced by the three pot stills and the high quality grain whisky. We will look at the charms of the Kanosuke Distillery, including the location and environment of the distillery, the attractiveness of the distillery, and their commitment to whisky making.
