<What’s in the bottle

Fuji Gotemba Distillery has continued to refine its techniques, persistence, and passion for whisky.

Fuji Gotemba Distillery uses all three types of grain whiskey (bourbon, Canadian, and Scotch) from the precious original whiskey distilled in the 1970s, when the distillery was still in operation, and blends in the subsequent generations of whiskey from the 1980s, 1990s, 2000s, and 2010s. You will enjoy a beautiful taste that perfectly blends the sweet and complex matured aroma derived from the long-aged original grain and the gorgeous aroma of the original grain that has been continuously improved with an eye to the future.

Fuji on the bottom of the bottle is retained, while a special label for the 50th anniversary limited edition features a gold leaf and a band at the bottom of the label. The label design emphasizes the precious limited edition nature of the bottle with a handwritten alcohol content and bottle number on each bottle, which is unique to this limited edition cask strength product.

Fuji Gotemba Distillery, located at the foot of Mt. Fuji, is one of the few whisky distilleries in the world to handle the entire process from preparation to bottling of malt and grain whiskies.
The distillery produces a wide variety of Kirin Group products, including whisky, mineral water, and canned chuhai, in a natural environment blessed with abundant subterranean water from Fuji, a cool climate, and frequent fog throughout the year.

In February 2019, the company invested approximately 8 billion yen to expand its production facilities in preparation for further increases in whiskey sales volume in the future.
In order to produce a wide variety of malt whisky base whisky, four new small fermentation tanks and two lines of four distillers were installed to approximately double the base whisky production capacity, and the barrel storage capacity was increased by approximately 20% through renewal and enlargement of the barrel aging warehouse. The new facility will start operation in June 2021.
