Since its establishment in March 2001, the organization has conducted research to learn more about whisky and the general whisky culture in Japan and abroad, and has collected and disseminated information. It has also planned, drafted, and implemented initiatives aimed at fostering whisky lovers and drinkers, and promoting whisky culture in cooperation with those involved in the industry. In addition to editing and publishing Whisky Galore, the only whisky magazine in Japan, and planning and managing events such as whisky festivals, we also sponsor the Whisky Connoisseur Certification Examination, a qualification system that tests knowledge and appraisal skills related to whisky, and the Whisky Certification Test, which tests knowledge for enjoying whisky. The company also sponsors the “Whisky Certification Test” to test the knowledge for enjoying whisky. ●A roundup of Japan’s rapidly growing number of whisky distilleries
It has been a year since the first edition of “Japanese Whisky Yearbook 2023” was published, which quickly went into heavy print and was well received. During this period, the number of whisky distilleries in Japan increased from 76 to 114. This is the only guidebook that introduces all of them. It thoroughly introduces not only the three major Japanese distillers, but also newly established distilleries and distilleries in preparation. You can learn all at once about the distillery’s personality, bottles on sale, facilities, and other information. It also includes information on whether or not tours are available, making this book a great tool for whisky tourism, which has been the focus of much attention in recent years.

●An exclusive read on the 100-year history of Japanese Whisky.
Japanese Whisky production celebrates its 100th anniversary in 2023. This book includes a rare talk show on the “Whisky 100 Year Project -FELLOW DISTILLERS-,” an initiative by five whisky makers to commemorate the 100th anniversary of Japanese whisky making in 2023. The book also includes the story of 100 years of Japanese Whisky (Perry’s arrival in Shimoda), a chronology, and other materials.

●Celebrating 100 years of Japanese Whisky
The founding of the Yamazaki Distillery in 1923 is considered to be a major milestone in the production of Japanese whisky in Japan. The Institute of Whisky Culture considers 2023-24 to be the centennial year of Japanese whisky and will celebrate the occasion through whisky galore, festivals, whisky certification tests, and other events. The “Japanese Whisky Yearbook 2023” is one of the core publications of the Institute.

●History
The history of Japanese Whisky began with the arrival of Perry’s fleet in Japan. By unraveling the story of the era of imitation Whisky and the events that led to Masataka Taketsuru’s study in Scotland, we will look back on the activities of our predecessors who laid the foundation for modern Japanese Whisky.
