Design bottles featuring the racehorses [Deep Impact] and [Gentildonna] are being sold via lottery by Akkeshi Distillery and Northern Horse Park, operated by “Northern Farm”, Hokkaido’s leading racehorse breeding and training farm.

Details regarding the second release from the Akkeshi × Northern Horse Park collaboration have been announced.
The first series featured design bottles for [Equinox] and [Dou Deuce], which were previously sold via lottery.

These are limited-quantity items, available on a first-come, first-served basis—up to two bottles per person.
The lottery will begin on Monday, September 7, 2026, at 12:00 PM.

This special collaboration honors two legendary horses—a father and son—who represent the Japanese horse racing world.
Here’s the lottery information and bottle specifications.

1. Bottle Details

Whisky is slowly aged and matured over time inside barrels.
Racing horses, too, undergo years of training on the vast plains of Hokkaido before eventually taking on the big stage.

Drawing parallels between the journeys of these whiskys and racehorses, we have created original bottles featuring the names of these legendary horses on Akkeshi Whisky—a brand beloved in Hokkaido.

Following the first series—“Equinox” and “Dou Deuce”—we are now releasing the second series, featuring two varieties “Deep Impact” and “Gentildonna.”

As a new initiative this time, we have prepared original blends inspired by each horse.

Fertile soil, pure water, and Akkeshi’s cool, humid climate.
As you savor Akkeshi Whisky—nurtured by Hokkaido’s nature—let your thoughts drift to the glorious paths these legendary horses once raced.

The moment you raise your glass becomes a special experience that can only be savored with this particular bottle.

We invite you to enjoy
“A Moment of Radiance.”

Deep Impact Design Bottle

The “Deep Impact Design Bottle” features a flavor profile centered on the robust aroma characteristic of Akkeshi Whisky, offering a deep, rich sweetness and a well-defined finish.
We have layered Deep Impact’s over whelming vigor and elegance onto this refined flavor profile.

Aroma: Cocoa shortbread and dark chocolate, orange, dried pineapple, sea breeze, and the umami and toasty notes of soy sauce rice crackers

Palate: The refreshing notes of orange and lemon, the sweet-and-sour taste of citrus candy

Finish: Black pepper and ginger, the freshness of lime, the crispness of salted lemon and the sweetness of citrus

The “Gentildonna Design Bottle” deliberately tones down the deep, aromatic character typical of Akkeshi Whisky, creating a refreshing and supple flavor profile while maintaining the clarity of its aroma and taste. It expresses the unique personality of Gentildonna, which combines strength and elegance.

Aroma: Fruity notes of pine and orange, a hint of the sea, the green notes of celery and bay leaf; the red hue of tomato; the sweetness of wheat-based confectionery, and a light touch of peat

Palate: A mix of orange and grape juice, the refreshing notes of lemon and lime

Finish: Black pepper, green lemon and lime peel, fruit chocolate-like acidity and sweetness

Our concept is “Whisky that carries on traditional Scottish distilling methods while embodying the distinctive flavors of Akkeshi.”

Deep, sea-scented fog, crisp air, and abundant peat. Believing that the terroir of Akkeshi, Hokkaido, would create the unique flavor of Japanese Whisky we sought, we began distillation in 2016.
To fully harness the “terroir” of Hokkaido and Akkeshi in our Whisky-making, we will continue to hone our skills here while deepening our connection with the local people and nature.Barley and Japanese white oak nurtured on the soil of Hokkaido, the beautiful water of Akkeshi, and peat rich in minerals—our wish is to craft everything entirely in Hokkaido and deliver a Japanese Whisky unlike any other to the world.
Quote: Blender’s Attention: The Blender’s Commitment [Akkeshi Distillery]

Driven by a strong desire to “produce a whisky like Islay malt using traditional Scottish methods,” we installed equipment manufactured by Forsyth of Scotland. All installation work was carried out by Forsyth craftsmen who traveled to Japan specifically for this project. The pot stills feature a straight-head onion shape, similar to those found at several distilleries on the Isle of Islay. Heating is via a radiator system (indirect heating), the attached condenser is a shell-and-tube type, and the mash tun is a semi-Leuter style.
All fermentation tanks (wash backs) are made of stainless steel and are intentionally designed without temperature control. The craftsmen determine the optimal timing for fermentation by relying on natural processes.

There are currently five aging warehouses, numbered 1 through 5. Warehouse 1 uses the dunnage system, while Warehouse 2 (located next to the bottling building) is currently used to store products prior to shipment.Aging Cellars 3 through 5 utilize a rack-style system. Located on a hill overlooking Akkeshi Bay, they are enveloped by “sea mist”—the scent of the ocean—that drifts over the entire town of Akkeshi, deepening the maturation of the malt and expected to have a positive effect on the Whisky’s character.

In addition to bourbon and sherry casks, we also use “Mizunara” oak from Hokkaido. Furthermore, we are exploring every possibility, including pairing with wine and rum casks.
Furthermore, the barley used as the raw material for the Whisky is grown in Akkeshi, and everything—including the peat and the wooden barrels for aging—is sourced locally. The distillery aims to produce an “Akkeshi All-Star” Whisky in the future. As part of a new initiative, a Initiatives began in August 2021 to age raw spirits distilled at the Akkeshi Distillery in Furano, with plans to launch the product in 2025. What kind of changes will the base spirits aged in Furano bring about? This initiative—which harnesses not only the local character of Akkeshi but also the great distinctiveness of “Hokkaido”—is the very essence of terroir.By incorporating the concept of “terroir”—a term wine connoisseurs are likely familiar with—into Whisky production, and by fusing the “distinctive character of Akkeshi” with the “distinctive character of Hokkaido,” the creation of Whisky that harnesses the terroir of these lands is both compelling and holds limitless potential.

Lake Akkeshi and the Bekanbeushi Wetlands surrounding Akkeshi-cho are wetlands registered under the Ramsar Convention. The Ramsar Convention is a treaty on wetlands adopted on February 2, 1971, in Ramsar, Iran. Its purpose is to conserve and wisely use wetlands—which serve as habitats for waterfowl and other wildlife—through international cooperation.
Our distillery also strives to protect this rich natural environment and coexist with it.
The water intake for our Whisky comes from the Homakai River, a tributary of the Ohoro River that flows near the distillery. The surrounding area is a wetland and home to the water milfoil, a plant said to thrive only in clear, clean streams. The small white flowers that bloom in summer are a symbol of abundant water. This water nurtures Akkeshi’s Whisky.
